Christmas in LA
Americans love to decorate their homes appropriately and celebrate the four seasons of the year with flair.
In winter, more specifically in December, houses are richly decorated with lights and Christmas motifs, and children decorate their gingerbread houses (small houses made of biscuit dough, decorated with colorful candies and sugar cream).
As is tradition, parents place a small doll, called "Elf," in the house, which is moved to a different location every night so that the child can find it the next day. The rule is not to touch the doll under any circumstances, as this lets Santa Claus know who has been obedient and well-behaved.
The children count down the days until Christmas and receive a small chocolate each day.
In a community in Torrance, a city in Los Angeles County, residents have been decorating their homes with such care since 1983 that it has become a traditional attraction.
Every night, hundreds of people stroll through the decorated streets, listening to beautiful Christmas carols performed by choirs, while children and young people sell hot chocolate and cookies.
Americans have a different custom; they don't usually have a party on the 24th, just a dinner, but they do celebrate the 25th.
Before going to bed on Christmas Eve, the children prepare chocolate and cookies for "Santa Claus," the old man, to eat when he comes to leave presents under the tree during the night.
Even with different customs and traditions, everyone celebrates the birth of Jesus and love!
Merry Christmas to all!!!
